  As our local was undergoing a refurbishment, we decided to try the Sydney arms which is just up the road. It's always looked present and we wanted to try it out.
  Upon our arrival there were only a few people at the bar, locals I belive. Whilst waiting to be served by a rather unfriendly bloke, some more locals came in and we're served quite blatantly before us. Eventually we were served and I ordered 2 pints of Ringwood best, i chose Best as it was a personal favourite of mine but also the only ale they had going as the others were out of stock.
  
  Due to the "local" environment in the bar, we felt like we belonged outside, luckily the weather was on our side. Halfway through the piny I noticed a very bad smell from the drink, it instantly put me off, and then to my delight, I noticed a lovely brown crusty ring around the rim of my glass that I was drinking from! I was not best pleased but this did bring entertainment to my drinking companion. It was at this point we decided to cut our losses and head somewhere cleaner and with a more welcoming vibe.

  Rooms were very clean tho pretty basic. No cooling at all and the rooms were very hot, the rooms at the back of the hotel were above the kitchens so were quite noisey earlier on in the evening.
  
  Food was OK, good value and selection but not the best quality. Mixed grill was one of the more expensive meals, the chicken was dry, gammon tasteless and all portions were small. The 'full English' was one sausage, two bits of bacon, 1egg and some Beans.
  
  Staff were very friendly and helpful, bar and seating areas were very nice.
  
  Edit:Google says this place has green parking, we were able to just about squeeze two cars into the courtyard behind the pub, that's about all the parking you'll find here, the street behind the pub was permit parking only.

  Maybe I picked the wrong day to visit. Building works in the pub while people are trying to eat isn't attractive. You are not serving breakfast so why not use early mornings for your refurbishments? Ok, burger matches its price but please change your oil in the fryers. Could taste the dirt in onion rings and my chips

  Great prices,food was good considering the low price level,a new pub restaurant and we had a few problems with our order but the helpful staff fixed our issues no problems so credit to them.
